Robert Levy represents individuals in arbitration and trial cases by employing holistic approaches to client relationships and problem-solving. Though immersed in the legal world, Mr. Levy often applies the principles of basketball to his world view. As an avid basketball player and watcher, Mr. Levy considers the position of the point guard to be the most important–both on the court and in life. When one can step up to better the team, they should, but when it’s time to pass the ball and let others shine, you must.

An educator at heart, Mr. Levy thinks deeply about the theory and practice of lawyering, both from a skills-based perspective and a strategic perspective. As such, he has served in multiple teaching capacities, including New York University (NYU) Law School’s Lawyering Program for more than three years. His courses focused on the development of core skills and strategic thinking in the areas of counseling, negotiating, oral argument, and trial techniques. He has also served as an adjunct instructor at Fordham University. Most recently, Mr. Levy has taught Continuing Legal Education courses (CLE) on cross-examination. He has also lectured on non-competition issues in employment law.

Though practicing law and teaching are his passion, Mr. Levy finds great fulfillment in his philanthropic work. Mr. Levy has served on the Board of Directors of AIDS Community Research Initiative on America and has been a Big Brother since 1991. He is a founder of

Friends Against Violence Everywhere which designs and promotes educational initiatives to regain Second Amendment/gun regulations and legislation. His newest venture is Montclair Helps. As a founding Board Member, the organization provides one-time monetary grants to assist members of the community address crisis moments. This includes funding for medical treatment, housing, clothing, etc.

Mr. Levy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Haverford College in 1981. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from New York University in 1990. His publications include Hey, There’s Ladies Here, 73 N.Y.U. Law Review 1022 (1988) which he co-authored; explores issues of gender stratification in law schools.
